Bring your horse and join us once a month from 7-9 for Adult Group Horsemanship coached by Tommy Fahey. *Note-time may be adjusted in winter months

This is NOT a series- rather indivual practice sessions- so you can sign up for just one, or several.

Led by Tommy Fahey who brings over 20 years of experience in the equine industry to Finnigan Farms Arena and Stable’s Working Equitation Coached Practice Session Series. Tommy’s diverse background makes him the perfect coach for this new sport to our local Equestrian Community. Tommy spent over 10 years as a professional equestrian performer in productions all across the US including: Cavalia, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede, Arabian Nights, and The Kentucky Horse Park’s Horses of the World. Along the way, Tommy developed a passion for Dressage and Liberty training. He has had the opportunities to work with outstanding trainers in these fields including: Kim and Yvonne Barteau of KYB Dressage, Dan James of Double Dan Horsemanship, Heidi Herriot of HorseTrix, Ariana Sakaris, Mary Rivers, Kelli Mardell, Matt McLaughlin, and many more. Tommy’s focus in training is to help develop better communication between human and horse, through communication comes understanding, and through understanding we can build stronger relationships with our equine companions.

2019 Working Equitation Playdates

Come learn more about the sport of Working Equitation with a two hour workout to dressage exercises and a selection of WE obstacles. No experience rfequired!

Cost $40. Limited to 4 riders per two hour time slot: 1-3 or 3-5. Current Coggins a must.

Pro -Cutter Practice coached by Jared Woody

Come join us for Pro-Cutter practice the third Wednesday of each month, coached by Jared Woody.
Two time slots, 5-6 and 6-7. * Additional time MAY be added if enough interest and other slots are filled.
4 people per time slot. $20 and current coggins.
Arena will be split in 1/2, dry work on one side, indivual Pro-cutter practice with Jared on the other.

Want to get out of the house in the evening and do something fun with your horse? Have you been wanting to practice obstacles but are too busy on the weekends to ride our course? Come join us for monthly obstacle practices. (Obstacles will be switched up each month. 8-10 per evening. )

Show starts promptly at 9. Gates open at 7.
Limited stalls available. First come, first served. Must reserve and pay for stalls in advance. No refund. $20, shavings provided. Bring bucket for water.
Limited lunch and snack menu/drinks available from 11-3. CASH ONLY.
Ribbons awarded for 1-6 place. EXCEPTION: Costume Class and Ride-a-Buck. Only 1st place awarded. Everyone else gets participation points.
To be eligible for buckle you MUST attend 3 out of the 4 shows.
Points are for the horse and rider team.
Points will be awarded as follows: 1st 10 points, 2nd 9points, 3rd 8 points, 4th 7 points, 5th 6 points, 6th 5 points and 1 point for participation if you do not place. Points are awarded in EVERY category, including speed. EXCEPTION: Costume class. 1st place 10 points, participation 5 points.
To allow less experienced riders a chance to win a ribbon, if you ride a walk/trot class in any division, that horse/rider combo MUST stay in walk/trot classes in every division for the entire show. (At the next show, if your horse has improved you can show in the walk/trot/canter class)
You may show in a single division; Youth, Adult or Open. OR you may show in both Youth/Open or Adult/Open. However, points earned in a particular division ONLY count for that division. (For example: If you ride in Youth equitation and get first and Open equitation and get sixth you will get 10 points toward Youth buckle and 5 points toward the Open buckle.) You may ride more than one horse in any class or division, but remember points accumulate for the horse rider pair ONLY.
Weather permitting: The obstacle course will be set up outside and have a separate Judge. It will be open from 11-3 and participants can ride it at anytime between those those hours. We will announce the winners before the speed events.
Judges reserve the right to combine classes if they are small to save time. However they will still judge/award ribbons for Youth, Adult, and Open within the combined class.
Judges will DQ participants who do not complete a pattern correctly.
Be saddled and ready to compete. Judge will not wait for participants- when your class is called, be ready to go.

Gentle Stretch Yoga & Horse Riding Exercises

Do you want to regain a sense of calm and also become a more fit athlete so that you are a stronger rider? 
Join us once a month for one hour of gentle stretch yoga with instructor Amber Kirbey of Honey Bee Yoga. Amber’s 200 hour certification is from Holistic Yoga School in Fort Collins, CO. Her 300 hour certification is from Emery Bryant Yoga in Springfield, MO. She currently teaches yoga at Synergy Executive. 
The yoga portion will be done in the Finnigan Farms Equestrian Lodge. Bring your mat and block if you have one- but we’ll have extras. The yoga will focus on stretching riding muscles and put you in a positive state of mind for the riding portion. Slow, no pressure environment.
There will be a 30 minute break so that you can change, enjoy a glass of tea, and saddle up. 
The one hour riding potion will be in held in Finnigan’s Arena and led by trainer Cameron Russell. He will lead the group through riding exercises designed to improve strength, rhythm and balance. 
$40 per class. Limited to 6 participants. Current coggins required. Pre-registration and payment required. Nonrefundable unless class is canceled.
If you don’t have your own horse, we have several lesson horse’s available for an additional $10 fee

2019 Horse-n-Rider 80% Payback Obstacle Poker Run

8 Obstacles. 3 tries per obstacle. For each obstacle completed you will recieve one card. Make your own hand with your best 5 cards. Jokers wild. Depending on attendence 4-8 decks of cards in use.
$25 entry fee.
Barn keeps $5.
$10 goes into pot for highest hand. (See end of post)
$10 goes into pot for highest score of all cards you hold-to be determined as follows: Jokers worth 20. Ace of Hearts 17. Ace of Diamonds 16. Ace of Clubs 15. Ace of Spades 14. All Kings 13. All Queens 12. All Jacks 11. 10-2 are face value.
NO EXCHANGING CARDS WITH FRIENDS! Obstacle judges will record the cards you pull and they MUST match the winning hands.
All non-winning riders will be entered in a drawing for a free one month pass to Finnigan Farms.

Join us for some fun, food and comraderie!
Bring your favorite side dish or dessert, saddle up and head to Finnigan Farms. We'll ride to Compton Hollow from Finnigan at 9 am and head back by noon for lunch.
Finnigan will provide main dishes, drinks, and plates/utinsils for a $5 fee. We'll post a signup sheet closer to the event on facebook so you can brag about the goodies you'll be bringing for folks to sample!

2019 Two Day Ranch Versatility Clinic with Jared Woody

This clinic will be focused on the fundamentals on ranch horse versatility classes, horses need to have walked, trot, and loped on cue to participate in this clinic. We will be focusing on ranch pleasure, trail, ranch reining and working cow. We will be working live cattle at this clinic as well as a flag to help introduce riders and horses to cow work.
Lunch will be available for an additional $5 a person per day
Stalls available for $15. 7 electric/water hookups available $25. 3 rooms available $35.

2019 Fall Full Moon Obstacle Course and Weenie Roast September

Join us at Finnigan for a full moon nighttime obstacle course ride on Friday, September 13th.
Gates open at 7:30- Weenie Roast, baked beans, drinks and S'mores around the firepit from 7:30-8:30. Ride the course in the moonlight from 8:30-10:30.

Finnigan Farms Fordland Staycation September

This is our second planned Staycation- The June event sold out in two days.
Three days of riding, activities, great food and camaraderie! Showers/toilets/full kitchen/ heated/air conditioned meeting space. Rooms, elec/water hookups and stalls available.
( You can stay at home- but you’ll miss out on some of the late night fun!)

2019 Finnigan Fun Day

Want to get out in your horse but don’t want to trail ride during deer season? Come play at Finnigan! Weather permitting the outdoor course will be open, we’ll set up a pattern in the outdoor arena, and play some games in the indoor.
$10 and current coggins. Bring your lunch!

2019 Scavenger Hunt on Horseback

Want to ride the trails during hunting season and not get shot at? We have purchased 80 acres one mile from Finnigan Farms Arena and Stable. 40 is wooded and trails will be cut, cleared and ready!
We will have at least 20 items hidden in the woods. You will have two hours to find as many as you can. Take a selfie with you and the item. Then we'll head back for lunch.
For each item you found, your name will be put in a drawing to win a corresponding prize- passes to Finnigan, a lessom with Cameron, gift cards, adult beverages, training aides, grooming items, and more! (You'll get a list the day of the event so you can hunt for the ones you want most first.)
Afterwrds- ride in the indoor arena or on the outdoor obstacle course.
Cost $25. Includes lunch. Current coggins a must.
Stalls, hookups and/or 3 rooms with queen beds to rent for additional charge.

Holiday Jackpot Obstacle Course December 80% Payback

Take a break from holiday shopping & come play! Holiday themed obstacle course set up in fully covered indoor arena. The cookies and hot choclate are on us!
Wear an Ugly Christmas Sweater, holiday PJ's, or decorate your horse (holiday theme) to be eligible for drawing for free pass to Finnigan Farms.

Youth will start at noon. Once registration closes (and we see how many we have in each class) we will post start times for Novice and Open
